At last, the long-awaited New Village Hall is open. A few minor snags have to be fixed and the landscaping is yet to be completed but otherwise all is ready.
There has been plenty of opportunity to use the new space and the kitchen is already very popular!
Don't miss the official Opening on Saturday, 25th September, 2010 at 11am.
Come along and take a look for yourselves.

For a full list of classes, activities and events at the new Village Hall, please consult the Skipsea Mirror newsletter, the Village Hall notice board or adverts in the PO.

As many of you will have seen from the newsletter, the Village Hall is nearing completion. Installation of the toilets is almost complete and the joiner will be here to install cubicles, skirting boards and internal doors. The kitchen equuipment is also being fitted and the car park is being surfaced.
The pond has been fenced off for safety and will be overlooked by the rear patio - a nice sunny place to sit and relax outside.

Another month has passed and there are a lot of visible changes both outside and inside. The scaffolding has been removed and the building can be clearly seen. Plastering has finished and painting has begun. The main hall floor has been laid and light fittings are being installed.
With approximately six weeks left to go, the kitchen equipment has been ordered and final decisions are being made on tables, chairs, curtains, etc.

The Parish Council has now applied for planning permission for change of use from a community building to a private dwelling.
You can see the plans and get further information from the ERYC website www.eastriding.gov.uk then going to the planning applications section
***UPDATE****
Planning permissiion has been granted.

It's amazing how quickly things are now moving along! As of last Friday (21 May) the windows and doors had been fitted and the roof is ready for tiling. First fix electrics and plumbing will be starting shortly.

Things swung rapidly into action again after the May Day bank holiday with the arrival of the crane to lift the steel beams and the roof trusses into place. Now it is really beginning to look like a building and the flag of St. George flies proudly after "topping out."

The scaffolding is in place and the external walls are just about up to roof height. The last week in April should see the internal walls completed and, after the May bank holiday, work is due to start on the roof. Latest photos below.

There is still a lot of administrative work going on behind the scenes, too. Thank you to all of you for your dedication and committment. You know who you are!
